Take Pity on the Administrative Team…

From our experience, marketing is left to the administration team. They have different priorities that far exceed the weekly Facebook post. With little or no training, you have placed one of the largest places of communication of your business with the team that (sometimes) doesn’t want more business or communication with clients because they are so flat out organising the chaos that already exists.

They have to answer the phone, organise jobs, chase debtors, enter and reconcile bills among a million other things.  If they don’t do those, they get in trouble.  If they ‘forget’ the marketing it’s no worries for them and only an annoyance for you, their employer.

I am not having a go at them at all. The administrative team are so busy, doing their job, keeping the business running and don’t want to or have the time to do something they are not trained for.

This means that a lot of businesses have employees doing their important and valuable marketing who:

  • Are not trained

  • Lack experience

  • Lack guidance

  • Are doing it in their spare time when they have it

  • Miss things

  • Lack a coherent short or long term strategy

  • Send mixed messages to clients or the wrong brand messages

  • Have no accountability (or targets) for results

Frankly, it is not an important priority. So when you say that “you have people that can do your marketing for you”, you aren’t necessarily correct. If you are happy with your setup and believe that your marketing efforts are extremely effective and in 5 years time, your efforts now will pay off, then that is ok.

From our point of view, it’s far cheaper, more effective and better for everyone if you hire an experienced marketer to take care and carry out your marketing efforts.

What would happen if you had a marketer who implements a strategy that is good for YOUR BUSINESS? What would happen if you give your marketing activities to someone who was extremely experienced in the field of marketing?
